Ragdoll Cat Coat Colors
The ragdoll breed is essentially a medium long haired breed of cat.
Ragdoll cat coat colors. It is most common to see ragdolls with a red mitted coat. There are six solid coat colours found in purebred ragdoll cats. Developed by american breeder ann baker in the 1960s they are best known for their docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. You can tell seal and blue anywhere from a few days to a week but you cannot determine chocolate and lilac for 3 4 weeks.
There are slight differences between the look and feel of their fur. A mitted ragdoll has white fore paws resembling mittens. Seal seal describes a very dark brown colour. Then as the kitten gets older the darker areas grow alongside it to develop its pattern.
Their luxurious ragdoll coat is one of their finest and most sought after features. Regardless of the color and the type of point of a ragdoll cat its color progression will be different over time. These are seal blue chocolate lilac red and cream. Point colors may be solid lynx including tortie lynx.
Cream cream is a similar colour to red although it is much lighter. They are large and muscular semi longhair cats with a soft and silky coat. Ragdoll kittens are born white acquiring their coloring and coat pattern as they age. There should be no white anywhere on the cat s body although light colored fur is fine.
The tica ragdoll breed standard for the ragdoll cat allows the following colors. While it is a kitten it will go from full white to white with some dark colored areas in the extremities. The differences are subtle. The standard ragdoll catcolours are seal and blue only.
Ragdolls are born white unless they are minks and ragdoll patterns and colors come in slowly. The ragdoll has a bunny soft semi longhair coat which does not require extensive grooming. And parti colored or tortie. Colorpoint ragdolls are marked similarly to a siamese with a light colored body and darker fur on the nose ears tail and paws.
There are other colours now available that have been brought into many bloodlines by out crossing. Full color development may not be evident until 2 3 years of age. The ragdoll is a cat breed with a color point coat and blue eyes. But nonetheless there are differences.
Some ragdolls have long guard hairs. The six point colors are seal blue chocolate lilac red and cream. It is somewhere between a light brown and a red. Why does this happen.
You can also get tabby also known as lynx variants and tortoiseshell variants. The ragdoll coat however may differ from other cats of this breed. All ragdolls are pointed but points are partially overlaid with white in the mitted and bicolor.
